Cheese Classes

Wine & Whey has a variety of classes all about cheese. Regardless of your knowledge or ability, if you have an interest, we have a class that you will enjoy. The Classes below are all available as private lessons! Get your group together and call W&W for more information.

Private Cheese Class

Private cheese classes are the best way to master a cheese. Schedule the private cheese class on your schedule by calling Wine & Whey. Our standard class covers Mozzarella and Ricotta cheese – also offering ‘step up’ classes including Feta, Brie, Bleu and other cheese by request. We welcome any sized groups! Prices based on groups of 4. Please work with us for larger events.

Mozzarella Cheese

This is a hands-on class, limited to a small group, to learn how to make stretchy and delicious mozzarella cheese! Find out what ingredients are necessary and which are ‘nice to add’ to the cheese. Ask questions, get answers and be wowed that you can make cheese in 30 minutes! Leave with cheese!

Feta Cheese & Queso Fresco

Deluxe cheese style class (cheese to munch, wine to drink and recipes for keeps). In this course we will be making crumbled feta and Mexican queso fresco cheese! Our cheese maker will break down the particular cultures used, the techniques and pressing. One of our favorites for intermediate cheese makers.

Cheese Preservation & Aging

Have you made cheddar yet? Monterey Jack? Other hard cheeses that you would like to know how to keep and age for a long period of time? This is the class for you. We will show you how to wax your cheese, how to bandage your cheese and talk about the optimal temps, humidity and all of the other little things that will help keep your cheese delicious. Join us for a couple hours, enjoy some snacks as well as lots of learning.

Brie and Bleu Cheese

Deluxe cheese class style. Not to be smug, but the brie and bleu made at W&W is some of the best out there! Our cheese maker has mastered these pressed and aged cheeses and is willing to share the secret. Join a group to learn how to make each! At the end of this class you will take home 1 brie and 1 bleu small wheel to take care of during development. Definitely a favorite for our intermediate/advanced cheese makers.

Farmhouse Cheddar Cheese

Have you made fresh cheese before? Are you ready to move on to a slightly more advanced cheese? This class will teach you how to make your own cheese curds! If you like fresh cheddar and would like to know how to do it on your own, this is the class for you.

Burrata | Fresh Butter, Mozzarella and Ricotta

Love Mozzarella? You will think Burrata is heaven! Learn to make your own in this two hour class, deluxe style We will use all homemade butter, ricotta and make our own mozzarella to stuff everything in! Everyone takes cheese home and there will be plenty to sample during the class (and knowing us, wine).

Mozzarella, Ricotta and Cream Cheese

Deluxe cheese class style. Perfect for the beginner cheese maker or potential hobbyist. Guarantee you will complete this class with the know-how to make all three styles of cheese. Includes cheese platter for samples, wine to enjoy and recipes for all so that you too, can make cheese at home!

Monterey Jack / Pepper Jack Cheese

This deluxe cheese class is introducing a new cheese to our offering! Monterey Jack and Pepper Jack Cheese. During the demonstration enjoy wine and cheese while being guided through the process of making your own smooth Monterey Jack cheese. We’ll compare traditional Monterey verse Peppering and as always, provide recipes and cheese.

Making Brie Cheese meets Beginner Wine!

Two of our favorite creations here at W&W. We’ll teach you the basics for making pressed brie cheese and follow with making wine! Together we’ll discuss the varieties of wonderful wines, differences of cheese cultures. Let us watch over your creations as the aging process takes control. We’ll finish up by scheduling Part 2 of the class – come back to bottle your wine and take home brie!

Tips & Techniques in Cheese Making

Want to learn to make pressed or aged cheeses? What the heck does, “clean break” , “cut the curds”, or “bandage your cheese” actually refer to? Let’s learn what happens after you actually make the cheese, the how and why of aging cheese. Together we will experiment with each of these terms to name a few and learn the how’s, why and what ifs in the techniques of cheese.

Beginner Wine Classes | Take Home 2 Bottles

This is a hands-on course with a small group. On arrival, we will determine which style of grape to make after discussing favorite wine varieties and tasting a few wines we’ve made on site. Roll up your sleeves and get the wine started. At the end of this class we will schedule the bottling date, roughly 40 days later. Come back to finish up the wine, apply your personalized labels and take home 2 full sized bottles!

Brie Cheese and Beginner Wine Combo

You heard right! The combo class will tangle both the beginner wine class education with making brie cheese. At the end of this class, take home your brie to help develop it character. Also, start making wine on-site! Come back when wine is ready to be bottled (about 40 days) and take home 3 bottles!

Celebration Wine Package

Join a small group to make the best of all worlds: Red, White and Sparkling. This special class is open to the first 8 people. At the end of 40 days of fermentation and clearing; each person will go home with 12 Bottles of Wine!

Looking for a perfect gift or night out? This package is all inclusive, everything you would need to make wine on-site with the help of Wine & Whey.

Included is your choice of a wine kit under $100 (selected on arrival), the winemaking vintning service (equipment, professional tools, storage), custom labels and bottles! The easiest way to make someone happy is this package. Depending on wine, expect to take home in roughly 40 days from start.
